Attention!

For close to two million people, exploring the web will soon change. Two million is most likely only the beginning as a former monopolistic giant is making its moves to gain back the monopoly once held. AT&T is merging with more companies than I can name here, including major cable companies. They are buying out small isp's and large isp's alike and adding them to the monster that is AT&T Worldnet. People like having their cable, phone, internet, and digital phone bills all combined onto one bill and AT&T is the place to get it. And for all the subscribers of AT&T's Worldnet internet access, a new upgrade version of the connection software has just been released and unveiled as of 11~17~99. It is Connection Manager setup version 5.2.

Note: all service marks, trade marks and registered marks are the property of the perspective, blah, blah, blah, holder of ...etc....mark, and so forth, (garbled legal jargon) in no way intend to infringe on aforementioned marks. Okay?

The new version 5.2 is likely to be touted as a Y2K compliant upgrade of the old version 5.0. Customers will be encouraged to download the upgrade before January 1st. I've been evasive long enough.
What does the new 5.2 have that the old 5.0 did not?
Answer: IP Tracing.
I wish I had the technical knowledge to fully explain exactly how this will work, but since I don't I'll do my best to explain. Every time anybody connects to the internet their ISP gives them an ip address. The address is pulled up from a pool and assigned to the user that logged on. Every time someone logs on their IP address is different. ISPs buy IP addresses, they're not cheap, and they are limited. That IP address allows packets of information to be routed to your computer from the site you want to access. AT&T has, in the coding of their new software, made it capable to track the IP address assigned to their customers and record a complete history of all sites accessed.
Ever get the feeling that somebody was watching you?
How about that you were being followed?
Now, with AT&T worldnet service software package version 5.2 you can no you are being watched and followed every time you connect to the internet and begin to surf. Who do you e-mail anyway? We know that now. Who are you receiving e-mail from? We know that too.

What are the consequences of this? How is it significant? For starters, the old domino effect. Other ISPs will want this tool hen they see what it means to AT&Ts profit margin. And it will effect, very directly, AT&Ts profit margin. Where the people are going, how long they spend there, how frequently they go there, and how many of them go there will be of significant monetary value to advertisers and the corporations that pay the advertisers. Millions of dollars in actually having to survey willing participants about their internet and buying habits will be saved. AT&T will be able to deliver the information on a vaster scale, broader demographic, and greater accuracy level than ever before. There will be no discrepancy between what the people say and what the people do. You will be used.

IP tracing, tracking and recording has no technical value and has no value in improving the service of an ISP. Any declarations contrary are lies. Flat out lies.

Obviously, this capability will interest the government. If you have an FBI file and internet access, then the fattening of that file is a sure thing. Have you ever written the government? Atteneded a protest? Expressed dissatisfaction with the government on a call in talk show? Yes? Then, you have an FBI file. In the name of national security anywhere you go, any program you download, and what you view can and will be used against you in anyway it can be.

This website reaches only a handful of people, thank-god. But this information, I feel, should reach more. If you are here and have read this far, send this URL to everyone in your address book. Or copy and paste the text into a message to everyone in your address book. Copy and paste this information into newsgroups, message boards, random chats. Print and photcopy the information and pin it to real bulletin boards, shove it under doors, pinch it beneath windshield wipers. Create a mirror site of this page. Memorize every word and scream about it like a deranged lunatic (is there another kind?) from the corners of your downtown streets or if your downtown is no more, go to the mall and holler there. Film and broadcast a PSA. Call radio stations. Write your congressman. Invade your local news studio during live broadcasting and let the people know, by God!!!!
